mima'amakim

i had this song on my computer for a couple months, maybe. it was pretty but i never tried to translate the lyrics. tonight i was curious. mima'amakim ("out of the depths") in hebrew parallels with the phrase in psalm 130 that begins" Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD..." after reading the whole of psalm 130 just now, i am in awe of its meaning.

"Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD;
O Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.

If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins,
O Lord, who could stand?

But with you there is forgiveness;
therefore you are feared.
